Part of becoming rich is making up your mind. Love this story about Rocky that I heard the other day. Sylvester Stallone really did not have that much money to live on before he made Rocky. The script was inspired by Mohammed Ali's fight. Sylvester sold the script and was offered money NOT to play the lead role in the movie, but he refused untill he was offered the play his part. The rest is history, what made the difference in Sylvester Stallone's life, one, just one idea. Isn't that inspiring, talk about a rate of return for the rich thoughts. Today is a day counting my blessings, and yes having great friends is one of them. Each one of them I feel a connection to and cherish in my heart. Don't you love spending time, energy and money with friends? This is what makes it all worth while. Making money is a technique, that you can learn and reproduce. One of the most important thing is self education, as Jim Rohn says. This part is true. Furthermore he states that it is about spending as much time in learning a profession as you do learning to explore yourself. The difference between being rich and being wealthy is what I have been listening to today. Rich is something that comes and goes, as money and time, means of exchange, a means of transaction. Wealth is something build for future use or or the next generation. When do you consider yourself rich? Is this part of your vision for your life and of your financial dreams and wishes? Rich dad, Poor Dad, of Robert Kyosaki is an interesting reading when it comes to this. What should you invest in in order to get rich or what to do if you want to get wealthy. In both cases it is about making the decision and trying to break investing habits to get wealthy. Making a financial plan and dedicating what you can in order to get there by an active performance every day. And yes, you can do it!

Is this a harsh truth, do you need to work 40 hours a week or more to get to financial success. An interesting book in this topic is Tim Ferris book, the four hour work week. In this book it is contested that we will have to work 40 hours or more to do a good job. Some people are highly focused and finish their assignments quicker than estimated, how effective a worker is determinant for how many hours should be worked. What hours are you most effective, I prefer working during mornings between 5-13 is my peak, after that I have a hard time to keep up that speed. Distraction and automation were to key elements of Tim Ferris book, he show how this seem to interfere with the effective time on the job. Interesting concepts and definitly something to thing about... how many hours do you plan to work? And when do you want to semi-retire? My ambition is 3-5 years.

Being raised to save, save and save more has made me a very poor person. Because you know what, it is not about saving alone and non-consumption. Although I think saving 10% of an income would be recommendable - as you pay yourself first. The art of compounding wealth starts when you learn how to invest this money. In Dutch there is this book that is called the Creation Spiral - that explains the process how to get from a dream to a reality. Was the American dream a way to make a nation fortunate? During my education both academic as well as professionally, the American dream is often referred to. Earlier in this blog I have referred to Martin Luther King's speech, I have a dream. Today's quote puts a smile on my face, I hope it does for you too! Isn't it great that Rich men, such as Carnegie dare to challenge the convention. A lot of investors do say that they want to spread their risk as a lot of models recommend. What is your investment strategy? How are you positioned when it comes to risk?

My formal education (as an economist) has shown me how to spread my risk, but we actually never talked about the importance and attitudes when it comes to taking a risk. Because you know what, it does matter what risk profile you have as a person when you start investing. It has to do how you are brought up, your parents attitudes when it comes to money. It is interesting because every time we get into a situation of insecurity we will fall back to the patterns that are most familiar to us- the patterns our parents have made clear to us. Today I have been listening to 'Crush it', and Gary is talking about something I thought I lost, PASSION. Because, as Warren Buffet states, there is no such thing as UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, this is his best asset in life. Try to value that for such a rich man. The quote of today is fascinating. Especially using intelligence and human artifacts. Intelligence is a concept that I am scrutinizing right now. Seth Godin talks about ' the lizard brain' and Eckart Tolle talks about 'the Ego'. It is interesting what we qualify as intelligence and what role our mind and hearts play in this. However, I have found that putting your energy in something that does not coincides with your internal dreams, wants and needs does not lead to much good. Here goes for Ilspiration. Possesion is an interesting concept in the creation of wealth. A normal assumption is that you need to possess in order to accumululate wealth. After having lived in both circumstances, where the possession mattered and did not matter, I found that it in the end it is your choice. Where do you want to put your time, energy, and money. If possession is important to you than go ahead :-) How would it feel to be free from your possession? How does it contribute to your happiness?

I am not attacking anybody, but I would like to have people question exactly how the wealthy became wealthy in the first place. And how wealth creates more wealth only with the help of the lower class. Sure, the lower class will get a slice of the pie but only after the wealthy take the biggest slice. Why? Because they have capital.

As said before this site is all about supporting investment plans, strategies and other investing actions that will support you to go your way. Because you know, no matter what, investing time, money and energy is all about the direction you have chosen in your life and the responsibility you take. It is your life nobody else's.

Listening to great minds and reading incredible writers has inspired me to invest my time, money and energy in such a way that I am creating a life I dreamed about and beyond. I hope these posts have inspired you on your fortunate way. Because this is what my soul belief is, inspiring and sharing to build new concepts.

My energy has been focusing on building customer relations, which I believe is the soul of every company, offline or online. As a person I needed to focus on the people I love and I know love me. Long-term relationships are key to Ilspiration, because you know, I get the BEST ideas of you out there, readers and writers.

But my offline strategy, connecting with people is important to me. The next stage is to dare to come and launch. I am preparing the materials to do just this. So, I'll keep you posted on the latest developments.

Ilspiration update

As stated before this company will be focusing on finding online solutions to enable people to invest their time, money and energy in such a way that they create the life that they want to. Unfortunately, I cannot do this by myself or for somebody else, this is essential to remember. It requires active involvement, some soul searching, something you would not expect from an academic, professional economics as me.

The brains that have educated me have taught me interesting concepts provided by Nash and Einstein, and this hardcore science does offers me good tools to perform well. The problem is to apply these concepts in such a way that it will benefit you as a reader. This concept building and method building has taken time and a lot of it is spend on (market) research and collaboration with professionals, coaches, mentors, buddies and other masterminds. Thank you all for your support.

To put the records straight, I will outline the future of Ilspiration and its chosen course of action. Ilspiration has been founded as a tribute to my mother an as a way to develop online (personal) business solutions. Right know I am working on online business proposals and have been making progress in several projects. B ut it requires time and it will need to make me more focused. So I decided to make the sites Ilspiration (www.ilspiration.com) my focus and the first part of it will be made in Investment Courses (www.investment-courses.net). Other business proposals and development project will be presented once ready and the sites are up and running. Since, all things seem to be happening at the same time, I will need some time to redirect my attention and to redirect my time.

Nevertheless, my priorities are by the way very clear to be. I want to prioritize close family first. This makes the time spend on family, friends, buddies and Ilspiration a scarce good. In order to keep you posted on the progress and developments on Ilspiration, I will update you with information on the upcoming and current events, information, proposals and courses.

Upcoming is my first online video; this will be released within a couple of weeks. The membership and club Ilspiration will be available soon. A mentoring program and possibilities to work with me will also follow shortly. A said, a lot of things are happening at the same time and I need to strike a balance. I will keep you Ilspired  be well and be swell and never forget your VIP asset: YOU!
